14 to 42: New York City Signs

This site givesa very interesting look into New York City. You can view the city signs that New York has used over the years, with some dating all the way back to the 1880s.

To browse by name, click the Browse by Name link and it will give you a listing of the signs in alphabetical order.

To browse just the highlights, click the “You may also take a quick tour of the highlights” link and it will load a page of signs; highlighting some of them from various collections. This is the best way to get a quick glimpse at what you’ll be looking at. To get more information on the highlights shown here, just click on the image or on the link below the image. You’ll then be taken to that sign’s page. This is a great way to get your feet wet before delving deeper into the signs on this site.
