I am a professional singer and Bass player. As well I instruct both bass and vocals.

First of all, if you are not singing -- start. Sing in the shower. Sing in you car. Get yourself a vocal coach. He/She will help you beath correctly, train you ear, expand you range, etc. Go sing at Karaoke bars. But KNOW the words DO NOT look at the screen. When you are ready go to jam sessions to sing with a live band. Don't go with a big head or they will shut you down. Make sure you are asking them to sing a song you and they know. You will also need to know the key you need to sing in. If you perform well and have a good attitude there is a good chance after attending a few or maybe even many sessions someone will ask you to sing with their band. Practice, practice, practice. When you feel ready, make a CD at a local studio. It can be with a band or with Karaoke tracks. Now shop for an agent. If they want money up front -- walk away.
